Research Scientist in Geology

Immediate tasks for the current position are to develop computer software simulating the induced stress and deformation during the petroleum E&P activities. The long-term responsibilities include continuous software development and/or improvement.

The job requires formulating mathematical equations for complex rock mechanics problems, developing proper numerical algorithms, computer programming and GUI software skills.

Hours are approximately from 9-5, Monday-Friday, with a salary of 98,000.00 annually.

 

Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered:

1. Completed at least university in relevant fields, preferably in geological engineering.

2. Significant research skills with a minimum of five years experience. Be able to work independently with minimum supervision.

3. You must be ready to demonstrate your experience with relevant example works.

4. Significant numerical simulation skills such as in finite element, finite difference and/or boundary element methods.

5. Significant computer experience including data manipulation and analysis, modeling and simulation, and development of applied engineering software.

6. Be able to read, write and speak English.

This position also includes tight deadlines, meticulous attention to details, significant use of memory, working under pressure and long periods of sitting.
