BitCan analyzes cores and image logs to compile hard well-specific statistics on natural fractures: density, orientation and mechanical nature. We further simulate the geomchanical fracture formation mechanisms to derive the regional fracture distribution. The simulation is based on large-scale structures interpreted from seismic and further constrained by the fracture statistics at well locations.

Armed with better knowledge on the fracture distribution, operators can plan drilling and stimulation strategies as well as further exploration targets. For the cap rock shales, ERCB requires operators to submit these statistical data on fractures.
