BitCan has conducted over 20 mini-frac/well injectivity tests in both the caprock and oil sands pay zone for the in-situ oil sands development. We design and conduct the tests to first measure the in-situ minimum stress and then operate the tests as a full-scale geomechanical field test. The test data is history matched in-house to deliver a site-specific and field-validated geomechanical model.

The minimum stress data are required by ERCB to address the caprock integrity concerns. The full geomechanical model is an important asset for proactive utilization of geomechanics in the oil sands development.

BitCan has custom built a dedicated injection system so that operators only need to contract a wireline unit to complete the mini-frac injection tests. Our system has a wide range of injection rates. It allows accurate flow-back controls. Its real time analysis software helps to identify and correct problems early in the field and improve the data interpretation accuracy.
