Petroleum Geomechanics combines:
1) Geology
2) Petroleum engineering
3) Applied mathematics
4) Non-Linear Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical coupling for our clients benefit.
In plain terms, we essentially figure out what type of rock you’re drilling into, how to best extract the hydrocarbons, how much heat, water or force you’ll need to do it, and how the rock will behave throughout the process. That’s why this field is sometimes referred to as “rock mechanics.”
The real challenge for rock mechanics is that whatever disturbance is made underground, the layer of rock on the Earth’s surface must remain intact, i.e. the caprock must maintain its integrity.
At BitCan, we can assist you with specific technical services, or work with you on a more strategic level to develop your reservoir.
